Boeing Plans to Exploit Maintenance Data — More Bad News for Airlines?

According to the December 2011 issue of MRO Management magazine, Boeing plans to exploit their maintenance and parts data and use it as a profit driver. While this should be very troubling to airlines and MROs, Boeing is trying to position it as though they were doing them a favor.

Clouding the Issue of PLM's Role in MRO and Social Media

A recent blog post on Aviation Week “Turnaround Time” talks about Autodesk, a PLM software vendor, suggesting that their latest offering 1) qualifies as social media, and 2) will bring new opportunities for aerospace maintainers and manufacturers. With all due respect to the blogger, PLM is a bad choice for maintenance and repair solutions.
